About Us - Done Right!

   Prior to forming Sawyer Golf & Resort Advisors, its Founder and Managing Member Bill Sawyer got it done and done right, in charge of the successful sale of $275 million of golf and resort assets covering 26 different properties for Golf Trust of America, Inc. (a public Real Estate Investment Trust or REIT headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina) under a shareholder approved plan of liquidation.  Before implementing this liquidation plan, Bill got it done right by originating and completing numerous acquisitions for Golf Trust, where he worked for 6 years.  Golf Trust of America was the second largest U.S. REIT owning golf and resort properties.

   Prior to working for Golf Trust of America, Bill was the founder and President of Golf Finance Inc., which specialized in arranging development, acquisition and expansion capital for golf properties.  Major engagements done at Golf Finance included the sale of a 12-course golf company to an affiliate of KKR, the large buyout firm; acquisition financing of a portfolio of 6 Florida golf courses; and representation of a major national lender on the sale of a foreclosed golf property. Prior to founding Golf Finance in 1990, Bill was Senior Vice President of Integrated Resources Inc., a public real estate and financial services firm headquartered in New York City, in charge of marketing Integrated Resources’ public investment partnerships, which had annual sales in excess of $500 million.

   Bill is a graduate of Yale University and the Harvard University Graduate School of Business and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is a licensed real estate salesperson and a member of the National Golf Course Owners Association, New England Golf Course Owners Association and the Urban Land Institute.
